हर्पीज़ ज़ोस्टर varicella-zoster virus की reactivation है। यह virus nerve cells में dormant रहता है और सालों बाद reactivate हो सकता है। Typical है दर्द और body के एक तरफ़ streak में blistering rash। सबसे डरावनी complication है postherpetic neuralgia। Vaccine (Shingrix) risk को बहुत कम करती है।
